TSE Art Destination

TSE Art Destination is a cultural space where the audience, artists, professionals from different fields interact and create new experiences, where everyone has the opportunity to learn contemporary art through exhibitions, performances, as well as educational and informational programs.

This is an art platform located in the historical center of Nur-Sultan city, which combines a gallery of contemporary art, an educational center, an experimental laboratory, an art shop and an art cafe.

The platform serves not only as a gallery of contemporary art, but also as an educational center and an experimental laboratory. The mission of TSE Art Destination is to facilitate and promote contemporary art in Kazakhstan, familiarize people with art, and educate future collectors.

“I saw the need to create an independent platform here, where artists will receive carte blanche and will be able to show their work without censorship, without diplomacy and in free expression. People complain that they don’t have much going on in Astana city. It may take some time, but with the help of the regularity of events, I hope that people will like the concept of the gallery,” said the gallery owner Dina Baitassova, an art critic from Almaty city. She has been engaged in contemporary art for more than 10 years, and she visited Nur-Sultan as an art consultant at the national pavilion of Kazakhstan at the EXPO-2017 exhibition. At the same time, Baitassova notes that she did not build a business plan - it is planned to receive art income from collectors and rental premises for events.

The gallery’s walls were first decorated by the works of modern video artist and photographer Almagul Menlibayeva and are united by the topic of the exhibition “GREEN, YELLOW, RED AND GREEN AGAIN”, which will last until March 19 of this year. According to the artist, the name reflects a traffic light - an international language that is familiar to everyone “We all stand at the same intersection, wait when necessary, stand when red, give way to each other. To successfully solve our problems, we need to understand all these rules. Kazakhstan has a lot of potential. We need only the courage to go forward and know the traffic rules”, Menlibayeva added.

Almagul Menlibayeva is an Almaty artist who participated in the Biennale in Sydney, Venice, Sharjah, Moscow cities. In addition, the photographer is one of five Kazakhstani artists whose works were exhibited at the London Sotheby’s auction.

It is planned to exhibit not only Kazakhstan's contemporary art, but also foreign art in the gallery. The program is scheduled for the next two years. In April, an exhibition of Galym Madanov and Zauresh Terekbay will be held, then the works of the French video artist Angeli Jah will be presented to Astana residents. A collective exhibition of the works of Kazakhstani photographers is also expected in the summer. The owner of the platform also intends to open an Art Cafe and an Art Boutique, where it will be possible to purchase art books, copyright works of artists and artisans.
